Beam 2 by Pierre Lanoe
Native of Provence, I lived childhood and adolescence between Alpilles and Lubéron, then in Dauphiné for my studies at the Fine Arts of Grenoble - it is there that I made my first engraving. Primary work, of course, but which is at the origin of the increasing interest that I have always had in this form of expression which is intaglio, engraving on copper or zinc, essentially by chemical processes that the we include under the terms "strong water" and "Aquatint".
Fifty years of original engraving, with a few fleeting incursions into the "artist's book".
It is with the constant concern for structuring and organizing the Engraved Space that I have always treated the subjects that naturally concern me, namely the various elements of nature: earth, air, water , with a clear predilection for rock and telluric. ... And then, from time to time, works closer to human genius such as these cities with towers, keeps and bell towers which are presented here.
It is a return to a relative figuration, compared to a work generally turned towards a certain form of abstraction in accordance with the subjects mentioned above.
In addition, based in the Var since 1960, Ibéria and I run an intaglio engraving workshop - the ATELIER LES MARGES" in Camps la Source where we have been offering training courses since 1985.
